ONE DAY IN FATEHPUR SIKRI

As we had some time and it was a fantastic day, we took advantage of the day to make an excursion to Fahtepur Sikri, about 40 km from Agra. The Mughal capital settled there and today there is the great mosque, the beautiful palace with its many courtyards and buildings, and the stressful market (it could not be missed, of course).

The bus to arrive is a real walking tartan, it seems that at any time the engine will explode, or it will break into a thousand pieces or fold in half, that if the horn works like a charm. We leave Agra after more than half an hour of madness and in another half hour (or a little more) we arrive at this unique place.

And the first impression is overwhelming, which is no longer new. You have to cross a street / bazaar until you reach a narrow alley that goes up to the mosque. And here, although the burden does not stop, as there are hordes of vendors quite pesadetes, the great door of the mosque makes the visit worthwhile.

Inside is the tomb of the Sufi saint who predicted the birth of his son to Emperor Akbar. This is why many women who want to get pregnant come here and leave a bow in one of the windows of the tomb, even Sarkozy and La Bruni came here before they got pregnant ... We currently keep the bow ... but the hats to be able to enter we couldn't avoid them ... jiji

The other great attraction is the royal enclosure, where Akbar built a palace for each of his three women: a Hinduist, a Christian and a Muslim. The architecture is beautiful and the courtyards super relaxing.

A pleasant visit just over an hour from Agra.

USEFUL INFO

How to get? There are buses every half hour from Idgah station in Agra (70-80 rupees in tuctuc). The trip costs 37 (or 35 depending on the company). Upon arrival there is a bar where you can leave backpacks or suitcases. From there there are buses back to Agra and also to Bharatpur, we don't know if to more places. You have to take the market street and go up an alley on the right, and you will reach the mosque.

Visit: the mosque is free and the palaces area costs Rs 600 (price 2018). In a couple of hours or three it is done.
